A Place to Call Home – Bell Building House Party – The UMW is participating in Neighborhood Service Organization (NSO)’s efforts to collect items to furnish apartments in the Bell Building through a Target gift registry. This building will provide permanent, supportive housing for chronically homeless people in our community. Either at a Target Store or online at Target.com, go to TargetLists, search by organizations and type in NSO. Find Metro United in the list or visit the list at http://bit.ly/IbQmUu. Saturday, May 5 – UMW Renaissance District Workshop on Immigration – The topic is “Immigration Justice: What is Justice?” The workshop will be held from 9:00 AM - noon at St. John UMC in Pontiac, MI. Metro Member, Gary Felder, will be on a panel to educate us about the complexities of immigration issues. Rev. Paul Perez will also be on the panel. Watch for the flyers and sign up. Cost is only $5.00. This is not just for women. Come and learn!
Sunday, May 13 – UMW Sunday – Celebrate Mother’s Day as one of Metropolitan’s children comes to the pulpit. Reverend Marshall G. Dunlap grew up in Metropolitan UMC and is now the Director of Adults and Families at Dearborn First United Methodist Church. Rev. Dunlap will bring the morning message. Women are needed to usher and lead the liturgy. Can we count on you?
Saturday, June 16 – Annual Women’s Fellowship Breakfast – Change of location. We will be celebrating at the the Traffic Jam and Snug Bar on Canfield and Third. There is ample parking. Start time is 11:00 a.m.
Sunday, July 29 – Loose Change Sunday – Funds collected will support Metropolitan’s Good Samaritan Ministry Program, which provides food and clothing to neighbors in need.
